Holo-Symbiosis – March/April 2023
I admit that until just the other day I never heard of the following words: oneiromancy, arithmancy, chiromancy, ceromancy, ololygmancy, tyromancy, or tasseography. I knew of the last by description only–predicting the future by looking at tea leaves. The other words too relate to fortune telling: the first is divination by dreams, the second numbers, the third by looking at a person’s palm. Everyone would love to know what their future looks like, but few go to psychics or fortune tellers for details, which, many would agree, aren’t worth the price one has to pay. We know that most fortune tellers are slick at what they do, knowing just how to hook into human vulnerabilities and pontificate convincingly on the three realms thatencircle these: love, wealth and health. Yet today, I would guess that the bigger picture of What’s our future going to be? weighs more heavily on us than personal concerns.
